BAN ON NOISE-MAKING TAKES EFFECT: ACCRA TO BE SILENT FOR A MONTH

One month ban on Noise-making in Accra has taken effect from today, Monday, 8th May 2017, in accordance to customs of the Ga people, whose ancestral land Accra forms part of.  Residents of Accra Central, heart of Ghana's Capital and largest city, are accordingly barred from drumming, whistling, clapping, playing loud music and engaging in activities that may bring about noise. The Ban on Noise-Making, affords traditional priests and priestesses congenial time to fast and pray for the betterment of Ga and its people. Accra residents are encouraged, in times like this, to also fast, pray and reflect on ways to better their lives. The one month period, also, sees to the planting and harvesting of millet(Nmaa), for the celebration of the annual Ga(Mashie) Homowo festival in August. ACCRA MOURNS NAA NARYI AWO DEDE, JOURNALIST

Late Naa Naryi Awo Dede Tens of persons in A ccra and Ghanaians living in the diaspora, particularly GaDangmes, have expressed shock about the sudden demise of Broadcast Journalist, Naa Naryi Awo Dede, whose death was announced on Tuesday dawn. The late Naa Naryi was for years a leading English news anchor with TV Africa right from the station's formative years. She also ably managed and anchored News in Ga on the same station. She became News Coordinator after Dzifa Smith and Soyokuor left TV Africa. She later became the Head of News of the station. Late Naa Naryi Awo Dede, daughter of the late Nuumo Abbey of GBC, started her media work with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in the 1980s.
