stool, and how conducts of some custodians of the tradition are retarding
growth among people of Accra.
She is
therefore calling for a truce among competing parties, dialogue, unite and
bring peace and development to Accra.
The last
reigning Ga Mantse, King Boni Nii Amugi II, died in 2004. Efforts to enstool a
successor to be King of Ghana's Capital and largest City, Accra, has been met
with challenges, with about five persons claiming to be the right King over
time.
In
attendance at the special press interaction were a high number of Ga Queen
Mothers who represented their respective communities in Accra.
Gbese Man-nye, Naa Ayikailey Nananorben I, said
the Ga State in its current state needs a firm and level-headed leader
who can proactively transform the Ga State for good. A person she is yet
to see in Ga at the moment.
Sempe Sukura Man-nye, Naa Adoley Ablade I, also mentioned that greed and undue love for money by some Individuals have been the cause of the woes of Ga. She, therefore, called on such persons to put first the interest of Ga in their actions in order to safeguard their heritage.
Naa Koteitsoo Afrosomanso I, Koteiman Man-nye and member of
the distinguished Women Situation Room Advocacy group, added that it's about time the Ga Mantse issue is
settled to bring about the needed development for the people of
Accra.
All the Queen Mothers refrained from endorsing any of the three current claimants to the Ga Mantse stool, with Naa Dedei Omaadru III, the Ga Queen, categorically mentioning that there is no Ga Mantse at the moment.
