ACCRA TO GO SILENT FROM MAY 8 TO JUNE 8 2017

The Ga Traditional Council(GTC) has announced 8th May to 8th June 2017 as period to observe the annual ban on Drumming and Noise Making in Accra.
The period affords priests and priestesses of Ga a congenial time to fast and pray for the betterment of Ga and its people. This period also sees to the planting and harvesting of millet for the celebration of the annual Ga Homowo festival in August. 

During the period, all residents of Ghana's Capital and largest city, Accra, are barred from burying the dead, whistling, clapping, drumming, playing loud music and engaging in activities that may bring about noise. 

Acting President of GTC, Nii Dodoo Nsaki indicated that in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, a Task Force has been formed to patrol and ensure compliance. He called on all residents in parts of Accra, which would be affected by the ban, to comply or be dealt with, in accordance to the law. 
The areas include the Accra Metropolis (Gamashi and its immediate communities), Ga South (Weija, Borteanor and immediate communities), Ga Central ( Santa Maria, Sowutuom and surrounding communities), Ga West (Obom, Amasaman, Ofankor etc) and parts of Ga East( Dome, Kwabenya, Ashongman etc)

ACCRA MOURNS NAA NARYI AWO DEDE, JOURNALIST

Late Naa Naryi Awo Dede Tens of persons in A ccra and Ghanaians living in the diaspora, particularly GaDangmes, have expressed shock about the sudden demise of Broadcast Journalist, Naa Naryi Awo Dede, whose death was announced on Tuesday dawn. The late Naa Naryi was for years a leading English news anchor with TV Africa right from the station's formative years. She also ably managed and anchored News in Ga on the same station. She became News Coordinator after Dzifa Smith and Soyokuor left TV Africa. She later became the Head of News of the station. Late Naa Naryi Awo Dede, daughter of the late Nuumo Abbey of GBC, started her media work with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in the 1980s. 'ENSTOOL LEGITIMATE GA KING BY AUGUST' GA QUEEN TO KING MAKERS

Naa Dedei Omaadru III- Ga Manye (Ga Queen) Queen of the Ga State, Naa Dedei Omadru III, has called on Ga kingmakers to unite and rightly install a Ga King before celebration of the Grand Ga Homowo Festival in August, 2017.  Naa Dedei Omadru III expressed many reservations about multiple claims to the Ga Mantse stool, and how conducts of some custodians of the tradition are retarding growth among people of Accra. She is therefore calling for a truce among competing parties, dialogue, unite and bring peace and development to Accra.  The last reigning Ga Mantse, King Boni Nii Amugi II, died in 2004.
